Cause and Effect

What if you were asked to give a short answer explaining the vastness of your spirituality? No exposition, no explanation - just a straight, black and white, meat and potatoes response to the question, "So exactly what is it that you believe in?" How could it be possible to answer such a question without highlighting the individualized differences between each person's concepts of relationship within spirituality?

How does a simple answer dictate another's perception of who you are and where you are going in life?

If a drop of water in a pool causes a ripple effect, then what kind of ripple effect would such a simple answer cause? Perhaps you could answer with the basic common factors of your religious belief. But then, that avoids how and why you believe what you believe. So how could someone answer such a question?

I'm not sure if there is a generic correct answer for everyone... but for me, my answer would be, "I have no answer, because words alone do not capture effectively what I believe. In my opinion, it is the actions we make and the choices we make that speak much louder than words".

Perhaps we should listen less with our ears, and listen more with our hearts and our souls. Simply stated a person's actions and choices can and will impact upon what actions and choices I make in my life also. This is related to the mathematic and scientific focus on the reality of cause and effect.

What is the catalyst and then what will the outcome be?

So, having said that, let's say the catalyst in a case study is a gentleman on the side of the road who has been injured. The action of his injury has caused his inaction to not do anything about it. This combination of action and inaction could therefore influence what choice and/or action I will take as I pass this gentleman. Do I assist him? Do I drive on by? My choice and my action will speak volumes in itself of what exactly is it that I believe in.

In turn, I ask myself, what exactly is it that I believe in? What actions have I taken that speak volumes about my beliefs - not necessarily to others, but to myself and to God? & what is it that I am doing to look out for the choices and actions I can make? Am I listening with my heart and my soul? Or am I still only listening with my ears?

It is not the abilities or the statements that make the person who they are - it is the choices they make.

Digg!
